Legal trouble has once again placed Will Smith in the spotlight, this time its tied to his 2025 music tour. A violinist who performed alongside the actor-rapper has filed a lawsuit alleging sexual harassment, retaliation and wrongful termination.
A Violinist Sues Will Smith Over Alleged Harassment
Brian King Joseph, a well-known violinist and former America’s Got Talent finalist, has sued Will Smith and Treyball Studios Management in Los Angeles County Superior Court. According to the filing, Joseph was first hired in November 2024 and later invited to join Smith’s Based on a True Story 2025 tour and contribute to his upcoming album.
The lawsuit claims Smith made personal remarks that suggested a special bond, including allegedly saying, “You and I have such a special connection, that I don’t have with anyone else.”
The Las Vegas Hotel Incident
The complaint highlights an incident he faced in March 2025 during the tour’s Las Vegas schedule and Joseph alleged that his hotel room key went missing for hours and that only management had access of. And when he returned to his room, he claims someone had entered without his permission.
According to the lawsuit, items left behind included wipes, a bottle of HIV medication with another person’s name, hospital paperwork and a handwritten note which read, “Brian, I’ll be back… just us,” with a heart drawn and signed “Stone F”. Joseph says he feared someone would return to his room for sexual activity.
He then reported the incident to hotel security, a non-emergency police line and Smith’s representatives. Days later, Joseph claims management had accused him of lying and terminated his role on the tour.
Smith’s Response and What’s Next
Joseph alleges emotional distress, PTSD and financial loss, and is seeking damages to be decided by a jury. Meanwhile, Will Smith’s attorney has denied all allegations, calling them “false, baseless, and reckless,” and said legal action will be taken to address the claims.
