A Nervous Start With Refugee

Director JP Dutta spotted him at an awards show and offered him the film. It was a moment of honour and surprise for him and something he remains grateful for to this day. “Getting an opportunity to make your debut with Mr. JP Dutta- that there is a thing of great privilege and honor, and I was immensely nervous,” he said.

He admitted that despite growing up around cinema, stepping into the frame as an actor was nerve-wracking. The excitement of working with JP Dutta was mixed with fear. Comedy Was the Scariest Genre

Over the years, Abhishek has explored all kinds of roles but one genre still feels the toughest is comedy. He believes comedy demands perfect timing and depends heavily on how it’s written. Unlike dramatic scenes where an actor can pause or express through silence, comedy requires precision. If the joke isn’t written into the scene, it’s hard to create the humour. Guru actor added, “If that beat is not written into your comedy, it becomes very difficult to make it into a comic moment. So comedy is something I was very scared to do.”Despite his initial fear, he took on comic roles in films like Happy New Year, Housefull 3 & 5, Dostana and more, slowly growing into the genre and earning praise for his timing.

Talking about his growth over two and a half decades, Abhishek said he now feels more confident as an actor. With each new project, he’s tried to learn and improve. Life experiences have helped him become more grounded both on and off screen. He hopes that the audience has seen that change in him over time.

While critics and trolls have often questioned his abilities, Abhishek’s strength lies in staying consistent and choosing scripts that are meaningful to him. Films like Dasvi, Ghoomer, and I Want to Talk, Be Happy reflect his interest in stories with substance.

As Abhishek Bachchan completes 25 years in the film industry, he continues to grow, evolve and entertain. Here’s to more fearless choices and strong performances in the years ahead.
