ISRO URSC Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

The selection process for these posts is rigorous and designed to identify the most suitable candidates. It includes a combination of written tests, screening, and interviews depending on the post.

Scientist/Engineer – ‘SC’:

Written Test: A computer-based test with two parts:

  • Part A (Discipline Specific – 90 mins, 80 marks): 80 MCQ questions (75% on core specialization, 25% on allied areas). Negative marking of 1/3 is applicable.
  • Part B (Aptitude/Ability Test – 30 mins, 20 marks): Maximum of 15 MCQ questions on numerical, logical, and abstract reasoning. No negative marking.

Qualifying Criteria: Candidates must score 50% each in Part A and Part B to qualify for the interview.

Interview: Shortlisted candidates (generally in a 1:5 ratio) will be called for an interview. The final selection will be based on the aggregate performance (Written Test + Interview), with a minimum of 60% aggregate required.

Scientist/Engineer – ‘SD’:

  • Shortlisting: Initial screening will be conducted based on the academic performance and parameters provided in the ISRO Live Register portal application.
  • Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called directly for an interview. Final selection will be based solely on the performance in the interview.

Medical Officer – ‘SC’:

  • Shortlisting/Written Test: Initial screening will be based on academic performance. A written test may be conducted purely for short-listing purposes on a need basis.
  • Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. Final selection will be based solely on the marks scored in the interview.

ISRO URSC Scientist/Engineer Recruitment 2026 Salary

The selected candidates will receive a handsome salary in the Pay Matrix Level 10 and 11, along with admissible allowances and benefits.

  • Scientist/Engineer – ‘SC’ (Level 10): Approx. Gross Emoluments of ₹56,100/- per month + admissible allowances.
  • Scientist/Engineer – ‘SD’ (Level 11): Approx. Gross Emoluments of ₹67,700/- per month + admissible allowances.
  • Medical Officer – ‘SC’ (Level 10): Approx. Gross Emoluments of ₹56,100/- per month + admissible allowances + Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA) @ 20% of Basic Pay.
