A body is staged leisurely before the murderer vanishes. It’s déjà vu for Mumbai’s Commissioner of Police Arun Khatri (Priyanshu Chatterjee) who dials the central jail in Hyderabad. Mrs. Seema Deshpande (Madhuri Dixit), the serial killer he had imprisoned twenty-five years ago, is still behind bars.
Who’s the copycat killer who has patterned himself/herself on Mrs. Deshpande’s modus operandi?
Catch a thief to catch a thief. Khatri uses Mrs. Deshpande’s brain to catch her shishya but burly ACP Tejas Phadke (Siddharth Chandekar) has to be pulled out of an undercover operation to work with the convicted serial killer. That’s Seema’s condition.
Seema, the ace cook who makes mouth-watering curries and lip-smacking modaks. Seema the killer who has the cunning Khatri seeks but has she stepped out of prison to help the police or to carry out her own secret agenda?
Red herrings, damaged minds fascinated with killing, Tejas who wants to keep his distance from Seema Deshpande, Seema with her secrets and truths, keep the episodes twisting and turning.
It’s no spoiler that Seema wants Tejas by her side coz he’s her son.
Kukunoor brings in sexual and child abuse, vigilante justice and transgender issues with a few abuses here and there.
Seema with her elegant surya namaskars and culinary cleverness has a few untried recipes up her sleeve. And Madhuri Dixit brings her alive with a sly smile. She even spews a spirited madar..ch…gaali.
Priyanshu Chatterjee gives dignity to the uniform while it’s Siddharth Chandekar who has a range to play with – besotted husband, baffled son, a cop with a job he must do.
Mrs. Deshpande – Watch Or Not?: There’s enough on Mrs. Deshpande’s menu to make it a decent weekend watch.
