In a rare and emotional conversation, filmmaker Mukesh Bhatt opened up about the painful chapter of his life which is the separation from his elder brother Mahesh Bhatt. Together, the Bhatt brothers created an unforgettable legacy under their home banner Vishesh Films, delivering cult classics like Aashiqui, Sadak, Ghulam, Raaz, Murder, Jannat and many more. But in 2020, fans were left shocked when the news of their professional and personal split surfaced.
“I Thought Only One Thing Would Separate Us That Is, Death”
During the exclusive interview with Lehren when asked about if there are any chances if he and Mahesh Bhatt will make a comeback? The veteran producer put it straight saying, “Never said no, never. Zindagi kis mod…” and then he suddenly recalled the moment of separation, Mukesh Bhatt revealed his shocking moment saying, “I never in my wildest, wildest, wildest dream thought we would separate. I always believed that only one thing could separate us is, death. Death because after that, none of us would be here.” His words reflected the deep emotional bond he shared with his brother, a relationship that was once unbreakable.

When Asked Who Took The First Step
When asked who first initiated the split, Mukesh responded , “I don’t know who took the first step, but whatever happened… you know how during a solar eclipse, only dark things occur? I wonder it was that phase, when everything around felt negative and that did happen. Also COVID came around that time, all negative things happened, so it was a dark period.”
Despite the heartbreak, Mukesh Bhatt shared that he continues to live with hope and optimism. “You have to stay open in life. I always tell my children, ‘Never hold negativity. Fill your heart with positive thoughts, and good things will happen. If you think negatively, only negativity will come your way.’ Take each day as it comes and enjoy it,” he concluded.
Even though time and circumstances created a rift between Mukesh Bhatt and Mahesh Bhatt, the bond of brotherhood still echoes in Mukesh’s words – a mix of love, pain and hope for peace someday.
