‘National Awards Are Meaningless If Dhanush Doesn’t Win Best Actor’: Chiranjeevi At ‘Kuberaa’ Success Meet

The recently released film Kuberaa directed by Sekhar Kammula is making waves across regions and turned into a massive success. Released on June 20, 2025 the movie stars Dhanush in the lead, playing the role of a beggar – a character far from unlike other heroes usual glamorous roles. The film which was originally made in Telugu, was simultaneously shot in Tamil and also released in Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam. For many, Dhanush as Devaa in Kuberaa and brilliant acting now go hand-in-hand.

Chiranjeevi Showers Praise on Dhanush ’s Performance in Kuberaa

At the grand success meet of Kuberaa, megastar Chiranjeevi was full of admiration for Dhanush. Holding the mic, Chiranjeevi expressed that no one else could have done justice to the role like Dhanush did. Reflecting on the film’s challenges, he said, “If you ask me, it’s not possible for me to play it. And if you ask me, I don’t need such difficulties. So involving such deeply into the character—there’s no one apart from Dhanush who could’ve done it.”

The megastar didn’t stop there. Speaking straight from the heart, Chiranjeevi said Dhanush deserves the Best Actor award for Kuberaa. He added, “I’m wishing you in advance ‘Congrats’. You should definitely get Best Actor award. If you’ll not get it, then there’ll be no meaning left to the National Awards. It’s normal for you to win Best Actor, but if you get it for this film, it’s a proud moment for all of us.”

Audiences and critics have praised Dhanush’s performance for the rawness and depth he brought to the role. From shooting in real locations like dumpyards to portraying emotional hardship with honesty, he’s won hearts. Rashmika Mandanna who starred opposite him, was seen sharing screen space throughout the journey. The film also features Nagarjuna, Jim Sarbh and Dalip Tahil in key roles. Backed by Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP and Amigos Creations, Kuberaa is now a certified blockbuster.

Meanwhile, one thing is clear – Dhanush’s grounbreaking portrayal as Devaa has struck a chord. Whether the National Awards will honour it remains to be seen, but the applause has already begun.
