Massive Fire Destroys ‘Anupamaa’ Set at Film City — No Injuries Reported

A significant fire broke out early this morning (June 23, 2025) on the set of the popular TV drama “Anupamaa” at Mumbai’s Goregaon Film City. The fire started around 5 AM—just hours before filming was set to commence—and completely destroyed the set. Thankfully, there have been no reported injuries or fatalities.

The fire brigade of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation was notified about the fire at 6:10 AM in the tent area of the Anupamaa set, located behind the Marathi Bigg Boss set at Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari in the Goregaon (East) area of Film City.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) responded promptly, dispatching four fire engines to control the blaze. However, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has denounced the incident, demanding a thorough investigation and accusing the production team of inadequate fire-safety measures. They have called for FIRs to be lodged against the production house, the channel, and the Film City authorities, expressing concerns about the possibility of fraudulent insurance claims.

This event has reignited important discussions regarding on-set safety protocols within the Indian television and film industry, a dialogue further intensified by previous incidents, including the unfortunate death of a camera assistant on this very show in November 2024.
