The 2025 Tony Awards continues to celebrate the best of Broadway with Maybe Happy Ending, Purpose, Sunset Blvd., and Eureka Day taking home top honours at 78th awards night held at Radio City Music Hall in NYC on Sunday. Hosted by Cynthia Erivo, the ceremony was filled with emotional wins, surprise victories and standout performances.

The acting categories saw Sarah Snook for ‘The Picture of a Dorian Gray’ and Cole Escola for ‘Oh, Mary!’ wins Best Performance by an Actress and an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play. While, Darren Criss for ‘Maybe Happy Ending’ and Nicole Scherzinger for ‘Sunset Blvd.’ triumphed in the musical categories.
The most notable moments came in when ‘Purpose’ actress Cara Young made history as the first Black performer to win two back-to-back Tony awards and the Lifetime Achievement Award was honoured to Harvey Fierstein. And an American musical ‘Hamilton’ delighted fans with their reunion, where they celebrated its 10th anniversary with a special performance by the original cast.
The show featured performances from nominated musicals including Buena Vista Social Club, Death Becomes Her and Flyod Collins. Presenters included Lin-Manuel Miranda, Oprah, Keanu Reeves, and Ariana DeBose adding star power to the event.
78th Tony Awards honoured both new and familiar faces proving Broadway’s resilience and creativity. With some heartwarming speeches, unexpected wins and unforgettable performances – the night was a true celebration of theatre.
