Former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni, who recently took on the title of Mahamandaleshwar at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj has hit back at spiritual personalities Baba Ramdev and Dhirendra Krishna Shastri of Bageshwar Dham. Both had raised questions about the legitimacy of her receiving the title. Now in the latest exclusive interview, in response Mamta Kulkarni made bold statements during her appearance on the television show Aap Ki Adalat.

Speaking on the show, the former actress Mamta Kulkarni addressed Dhirendra Krishna Shastri’s skepticism, saying, “I have meditated for as long as he has been alive—25 years. He should ask his guru who I am and remain silent.” She further emphasized that sainthood is not achieved overnight and requires years of dedication and penance.
She also had strong words for Baba Ramdev, advising him to fear Mahakal and Mahakali. Baba Ramdev had earlier questioned the process of her receiving the Mahamandaleshwar title, stating that such honours should not be granted randomly. Responding to this, Mamta stated, “What should I even say to Baba Ramdev? He should fear Mahakal and Mahakali.”

The controversy surrounding Mamta Kulkarni intensified when Rishi Ajay Das, the founder of Kinnar Akhara expelled her along with Acharya Mahamandleshwar Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi. The decision reportedly stemmed from the claim that Kulkarni was appointed without consulting the Akhara’s founder. According to a statement by Rishi Ajay Das, “Without following any religious or Akhara tradition, she was directly given the title of Mahamandaleshwar. Therefore, in the interest of the country, Sanatan Dharma and society, she has been removed.”

Mamta Kulkarni also addressed rumours about her allegedly paying ₹10 crore to secure the title. She dismissed these claims, revealing that her financial situation is dire. “I don’t even have ₹1 crore, let alone ₹10 crore. My bank accounts have been seized by the government. I had to borrow ₹2 lakh just to offer dakshina to my guru,” she shared. She also mentioned that her apartments have been unoccupied for 23 years and are now infested with termites.
Mamta Kulkarni, who gained fame in Bollywood during the 1990s with films like Karan Arjun, has undergone a major transformation. From being a successful actress to renouncing material life, her journey has been anything but ordinary. However, her past including alleged involvement in a drug case, continues to cast a shadow over her spiritual endeavours. Despite the controversies, Kulkarni remains steadfast in her spiritual path even as doubts and debates about her title persist.
