Dhurandhar Becomes Highest-Grossing Indian Film In Single Language; YRF Reacts To Its Historic Milestone

Dhurandhar Sets a New Benchmark in Indian Cinema

More than a month after its theatrical release on December 5, 2025 Dhurandhar continues to dominate the box office and shows no signs of slowing down. Directed by National Award winner Aditya Dhar, the film has now crossed the staggering ₹1300 crore mark, becoming the highest-grossing Indian film ever in a single language.

Produced by B62 Studios and Jio Studios, the film’s sustained run highlights how word-of-mouth and audience trust can shape box office history. Somewhere in the middle of this celebration, Dhurandhar also became a symbol of creative confidence where belief in cinema outweighed marketing noise.

YRF’s Tribute to the Team

To celebrate the historic milestone, Yash Raj Films took to social media with a heartfelt note praising the team. The production house wrote, “Dhurandhar is not a film… it’s a milestone moment in Indian cinema that will be remembered forever. Congratulations to Aditya Dhar and Jio Studios for becoming the highest grossing Indian film of all time (In a Single language).”

The note further applauded Dhar’s “fearless storytelling and unwavering commitment to excellence” and concluded with “Thank you for giving us cinema that inspires us to strive forward in the pursuit of creative excellence.”

Aditya Dhar Recalls His First Industry Break

Deeply moved by YRF’s words, Aditya Dhar responded with a personal note that revealed a lesser-known chapter of his journey. He wrote, “Thank you @yrf.🙏 It was growing up on films like Yash ji’s Deewar, Darr etc that greatly influenced me! Also not many people know this, but I actually got my first break with YRF itself, as a lyricist way back on Kabul Express!! To receive such kind appreciation today from a company whose iconic films have defined and nurtured generations of Indian filmmakers.”

Ranveer Singh, who debuted with YRF’s Band Baaja Baaraat (2010) also took to comment section and wrote, “My beloved Alma Mater ❤ 🤍 only ever wanted to make you proud! 🫡” Actor Naveen Kaushik also shared his gratitude, writing, “Glad to have started my career in films at YRF with Rocket Singh. The path you showed me then still guides my way today.”

What makes this achievement even more remarkable is the film’s quiet release strategy. There were no massive promotions, no aggressive media tours and no over-the-top marketing. Instead, the film let its content speak, proving once again that strong storytelling can still pull audiences to theatres in huge numbers.

The film features an epic ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, Ranveer Singh, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt and several others. For Aditya Dhar, this marks a powerful return to direction after Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019).
