Job Description
Amazon is looking for Software Development Engineers with a passion to innovate on behalf of eBook customers. The role involves building and enhancing digital bookstore services that enable customers to easily purchase eBooks and Kindle subscriptions across multiple platforms.
You will work on complex, scalable systems that support digital purchase experiences across PC web browsers, mobile web, Amazon Android applications, Kindle reading apps on iOS and Android, and Amazon e-readers. The role requires collaboration across services, architectural design, and making sound technical trade-offs between short-term goals and long-term scalability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement solutions for broadly defined technical problems
- Drive engineering best practices and maintain high code quality
- Collaborate with team members on system architecture and design
- Develop and enhance existing systems in an agile environment
- Deliver scalable and reliable software used across multiple Amazon digital businesses
Basic Qualifications
- Knowledge of programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, or Perl
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Strong understanding of Data Structures, Algorithms, Object-Oriented Design, and Databases
- Ability to write high-quality, object-oriented code in a Linux environment
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced development environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Strong object-oriented design and coding skills (C/C++ or Java preferred)
- Experience with distributed systems, multi-tier architectures, and relational databases
- Knowledge of optimization techniques such as linear or nonlinear optimization
- Ability to clearly articulate technical challenges and solutions
- Prior technical internship experience is a plus
