It’s not new for director Anurag Kashyap to be the centre of online chatter but this time the exceptional filmmaker decided to address it head-on. Known for his bold opinions, Kashyap recently responded to trolls who’ve over the years often shockingly labelled him as a “nashedi” (an Hindi term for drug addict). In the latest interview with Digital Commentary he revealed how this tag followed him for years for the most unexpected reason that due to his big eyes.
Opening up in his signature unfiltered tone director Anurag Kashyap said, “Meri aankhein badi badi hai na, saari problem iski wajah se hai. Iski wajah se hi log mujhe ganjedi aur nashedi patani kya kya bolte hai. Ab ye meri galti thodi na hai ki main inn aankhon ke saath paida hua hoon.”
Not one to shy away from criticism, Kashyap also addressed those who dismiss his work as commercially unsuccessful and to which he hit back saying, “Meri film ne ek ticket bhi nahi becha tabhi unka nuksaan jo hai na saal ki 80% films jo flop hoti hai usse kum hai.”
Kashyap further pointed out how many people criticize him but never support his films in theatres. He remarked, “Agar tum meri film cinema hall mein dekhne jate hote toh mera ghar usse chal raha hota? Par mera ghar tumhari wajah se nahi chal raha hai.”
On the work front, Anurag Kashyap’s Nishaanchi recently landed on Amazon Prime Video , while its sequel has been expected next year. On the other hand, he’s also gearing up for Bandar starring Bobby Deol and still waiting for his much-talked-about film Kennedy to release.
