Ranveer Singh is finally back on screen with the much-anticipated first look of Dhurandhar and the teaser has already set social media buzzing. After a few underwhelming films, the actor appears in a gritty avatar that’s getting plenty of attention and fans can’t wait to see him rule the silver screens. Alongside him, the film stars a powerful cast – Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan and Arjun Rampal. Directed by Aditya Dhar known for his National Award-winning film URI: The Surgical Strike, Dhurandhar seems to be shaping up as a hard-hitting thriller.
While fans appreciated the action-packed visuals and the cast, it was the background track titled Na Dil De Pardesi Nu that grabbed most of the attention. Many assumed it was a fresh composition created for the film but netizens were quick to notice something familiar about it.
A few fans recognized the track as being similar to Jogi by Panjabi MC which was released in 2003. But digging deeper, it turns out Jogi was actually a remix of the original Punjabi song Na Dil De Pardesi Nu, sung by Mohammed Siddiq and Ranjit Kaur.
A user on X (formerly Twitter) shared Panjabi MC’s video and commented, “They had me when they played my favorite Punjabi underrated track #Dhurandhar.” Another disappointed user reacted, “So it wasn’t an original composition of the movie … One good thing I liked about this teaser wasn’t even theirss…?” A third pointed out, “Just because you heard it recently doesn’t mean it’s underrated. This song was very popular when it released and also featured in Far Cry 4.” One user simply said, “Honestly it didn’t suit it well.”

As excitement builds for Dhurandhar, the music controversy has sparked a separate conversation online. Whether intentional or inspired, the choice of background track has definitely caught everyone’s attention.
Dhurandhar is based on the life of Indian intelligence officer Ajit Doval who went undercover to prevent a national crisis. The film is set for release on December 5, 2025 and will clash at the box office with Prabhas’ The Raja Saab and Shahid Kapoor’s next.
