The businessman was 53 years old at the time of his death. Following his separation from Karisma, Sunjay married Priya Sachdev, a socialite and model hailing from Delhi. Recently, an old interview featuring Priya has resurfaced, in which she discussed Sunjay and the difficult decisions he had to make after the loss of his father and his divorce from Karisma.
Priya Sachdev came to the defense of her husband, Sunjay Kapur, describing him as “misunderstood” and recognizing that he has made “hard decisions” in the aftermath of his divorce from Karisma Kapoor. She highlighted that he “has been through so much,” suggesting her understanding of the emotional challenges he has encountered. Priya frequently posts pictures that showcase Sunjay’s engaged role as a caring father to their son Azarias, as well as to Karisma’s children, Samaira and Kiaan. She cherishes family occasions—birthdays, outings, father’s day—and is recognized for publicly acknowledging his commitment.
Reflecting on their relationship, she mentioned on the YouTube channel Kin and Kindness, “When we came together in 2015, he experienced the loss of his father, and suddenly a significant amount of responsibility was placed on him, leaving him to manage the business, which was located in Germany at that time.”

She said, “Sunjay’s journey has been interesting as a father himself and then he lost his father, and he had to take over the business and turn it around, and he was going through a divorce at the same time. He has been through so much and we were together in it and now we have come out of it. He has become a very successful businessman.”
Reflecting on what drew her to Sunjay, she remarked, “I found him to be quite charming, sincere, and often misjudged.” She continued, “He has faced misunderstanding, but he is now highly regarded in the industry. His father was an icon in his field, and Sunjay is now stepping into that legacy, which fills us all with pride. He has also had to make difficult decisions and choices, most of which have proven to be beneficial.”
Karisma and Sunjay were married for 13 years before their separation in 2016. They have two children — a daughter named Samaira and a son named Kiaan. In 2017, Sunjay married Priya. They welcomed a son, Azarias, in December 2018. Priya also has a daughter from her prior marriage.
