After the sudden passing of businessman Sunjay Kapur during a polo match on June 12, an old interview of Sunjay Kapur’s wife Priya Sachdev Kapur, has resurfaced. In this candid conversation, Priya opened up about her life with Sunjay, how they met, and the bond she shares with his children from his previous marriage to Karisma Kapoor.
According to the SCREEN, in the interview on the YouTube channel Kin & Kindness, Priya revealed that she met Sunjay on a flight. At that time, he often travelled between Delhi and Mumbai to visit his kids, Samaira and Kiaan, whom he shares with Karisma Kapoor. What started as a simple meeting turned into a friendship and eventually led to marriage after Sunjay’s divorce was finalised.
Reflecting on Sunjay’s past, she said, “Sunjay’s previous marriage was not a conventional marriage. He had two beautiful children from that marriage. We love them dearly and today we are one beautiful blended family.”
Priya, who has a daughter named Safira from her previous marriage to Vikram Chatwal, shared that after marrying Sunjay, Safira came to live with them. Over time, a new family dynamic took shape. She explained, “We have four children – Samaira, the oldest, then Safira, Kiaan, and my and Sunjay’s son, Azarias. It’s a blended family.”

Talking about the emotional connection between all the kids, Sunjay Kapur’s wife said, “When Azarias was born, he became the glue. He brought the family together because he is half them and half Safira. Our two daughters, Samaira and Safira, are very close. We all have grown to love and appreciate each other.”
Speaking about her relationship with Samaira and Kiaan, Priya added, “I can never be their mother, but I know I have a space in their world and their hearts. We talk about all kinds of fun, frivolous, and serious stuff. I have a bond with them.”
While every blended family has its own challenges, Sunjay Kapur’s wife has found joy and meaning in the connection they’ve built. Through honesty, patience and shared love for the children, they’ve created a family where everyone feels seen and valued.
