Shatrughan SInha and Sanjay Khan are well-known names in Indian cinema, both making their powerful mark in the world of Bollywood with eye-catching performances. However, few people know about their real-life shocking incident between them that involved heated argument, gunfire and police intervention. Actor Ranjeet, who is known for his villainous roles in 70s and 80s era recently recalled this shocking anecdote in an interview with Vicky Lalwani, where he shared how a party disagreement escalated into something unexpectedly serious matter.
How Shatrughan Sinha & Sanjay Khan ‘s Fight Started?
During the interview, Ranjeet mentioned that the incident took place at a party held at Napiency Road. The gathering included many well-known faces like Zeenat Aman, Shatrughan Sinha, and Sanjay Khan. He said, “I was with my girlfriend at home. Shatrughan Sinha and his group, including Prakash and Choudhry, had a routine of coming to my place after their shoot. That day, they were at a socialite’s party where Zeenat Aman and Sanjay Khan were also present.”
Further, actor Ranjeet revealed that how tensions rose when Shatrughan Sinha place his hand on Sanjay Khan’s cheek which didn’t sit well with him. “Sanjay slapped him and said, ‘Gaal pe haath kaun lagata hai yaar?’ This triggered a fight, and Reena Roy, who was also there, started shouting, ‘Tune usko maara!’ Things got worse, and Sanjay suggested stepping out to settle the matter. So, he, Bob Christo, Shatru, and a few others left.”
Gunshots Fired Outside Sanjay Khan’s House!
The Namak Halaal actor further shared that around the same time, Shatrughan Sinha had been signed for ‘Jwalamukhi’ after a fallout with Amitabh Bachchan. After hearing about the slap, Sinha’s friends went to confront Sanjay Khan. Ranjeet said, “That night, my intercom buzzed, and a friend told me, ‘Yaar woh goliyan chala rahe hai.’ I stayed inside, but later, I heard they had gone to Sanjay’s house and fired shots in the air. Choudhry, Bipin, and a few others were involved. They weren’t pointing at anyone but just firing in the sky, shouting, ‘Oye bahar nikal oye!’”
He continued, “Later, when I got home, I saw Sanjay sitting there. I asked him, ‘What are you doing here?’ He said, ‘Arey idiots, they’re firing at my house in the 21st century. I found the bullet casings.’ He wanted to file a police case, but I calmed him down and asked if he’d let it go if they apologized.”
Police Arrived at Ranjeet’s House
The next morning, how Ranjeet called both Shatrughan Sinha and Sanjay Khan at his place to settle the issue. However, things took another turn when Zeenat Aman arrived with a lawyer. Ranjeet said, “I saw a car coming, and Zeenat stepped out with a lawyer. Everyone was sitting inside, five to six people from Shatru’s side and some from Prakash Mehra’s group. Suddenly, police sirens started blaring. Sanjay called the police, saying, ‘They are planning to attack me.’”
He added, “Soon, police officers, including the ACP, reached my house. Sanjay started explaining everything, saying, ‘Maine usko role diya, aisa kiya, mai chahata toh mai bhi goli chala sakta tha.’ I was getting late for work, so I left. Later, I found out that Dilip Kumar intervened, and police took Shatrughan Sinha and Prakash Mehra to the station. The next day, newspapers reported, ‘Murder was planned at Ranjeet’s place.’” \ There were also rumours about filmmaker Subhash Ghai being arrested in connection with the fight. However, Ranjeet clarified, “Nahi nahi, Subhash Ghai jail nahi gaye the, Santacruz police station tak gaye the.”
This incident remains one of the most dramatic real-life conflicts in Bollywood. Shatrughan Sinha and Sanjay Khan may have shared screen space, but this real-life feud was something no one expected.
