Intel Arrow Lake-S Desktop CPUs To Feature Support On Z890, B860 & H810 Motherboards 1

New rumors regarding Intel's upcoming Raptor Lake-S Refresh & Arrow Lake desktop CPUs have emerged from Bilibili's Enthusiast Citizen.

Intel Raptor Lake-S Refresh Desktop CPUs In October, Arrow Lake-S For Z890, B860 & H810 Chipsets

Starting once again with the Intel Raptor Lake-S Refresh Desktop CPUs, the leaker has stated that the upcoming CPU lineup will be compatible with both 600 and 700-series motherboards. This is indeed true since both chipsets are receiving BIOS support for the upcoming desktop chips. As for the launch, the Intel Raptor Lake-S Refresh "K" or Unlocked SKUs will be the first to hit retail in the 42nd week of 2023 which starts on the 16th of October. Intel will also be introducing its Non-K line of chips and those are said to be available in the first week of 2024 or CES 2024.

When Raptor Lake Refresh CPU, it is gradually clear that the K series will be in WW42, and non-K will be in 2024 WW1. It is estimated that there will be no update time for CESO Arrow Lake. With the chipset Z890 B860 H810, it seems that there will be no H870 this time.

The previous CPU launch schedule had placed the Non-K lineup around November/December but a CES 2024 launch makes more sense since the previous Intel Raptor Lake-S Non-K lineup was also introduced at CES. The launch schedule looks like below:

  • Raptor Lake-S Refresh "Unlocked" - October 2023 (Unveil at Innovation Event)
  • Raptor Lake-S Refresh "Locked" - January 2024 (Unveil & Launch at CES)
  • Arrow Lake-S - Late 2024 - Early 2025
  • Xeon W-2500/W-3500 - Early 2024

So just as a recap, here's everything we can expect from Intel's 14th Gen Raptor Lake Refresh Desktop CPUs:

  • Same Architecture as Raptor Lake (Raptor Cove P-Cores + Gracemont E-Cores)
  • Same Process Node as Raptor Lake (Intel 7 aka 10nm++)
  • Higher Clock Speeds Beyond 6.0 GHz
  • Support For Faster DDR5 Memory DIMMs
  • Much Higher Power Consumption (Close To 300W)
  • Compatibility With Existing LGA 1700 / 1800 Socket Motherboards

After the 14th Gen Raptor Lake-S Refresh Desktop CPU lineup, Intel will move on to a new family featuring a brand new CPU architecture and new platform. The Arrow Lake CPUs are expected to be unveiled in late 2024 or early 2025 and there are going to be three chipsets of motherboards.

The flagship chipset will be the Z890 and there will be two mainstream chipsets aside from that for the next-gen Arrow Lake CPUs. These include the B860 and the H810. The leaker states that there isn't going to be an H870 chipset for Arrow Lake-S Desktop CPUs. All 800-series motherboards will feature the LGA 1851 socket which was initially going to support Meteor Lake CPUs too but that is not the case anymore since Meteor Lake seems to be more or less canceled for desktops & will be only targeting laptops. Previous rumors also pointed out W880 and Q870 chipsets for workstations and business platforms. Rounding up the 800-series chipsets, we have:

  • Z890
  • W880
  • Q870
  • B860
  • H810

The Z890 platform is expected to feature up to 60 HSIO channels (26 CPU + 34 PCH while the B860 and H810 platforms will feature 44 and 32 HSIO channels, respectively. Intel's 800-series platform will also support up to DDR5-6400 memory natively and with 48 GB memory module compatibility. Besides that, WiFi 7 and 5 GbE are also going to be talking points as Intel brings them to consumers across all segments.

Overall, it is definitely an interesting lineup but whether it will be enough to tackle the AMD Ryzen 8000 CPUs featuring the Zen 5 and RDNA 3.5 core architectures next year remains to be seen. The company has an Innovation event planned for 19th September so we can expect more details then.
