The next iPad Pro upgrade will be huge considering the number of changes the company is planning to bring to the table. We have previously heard various rumors regarding the device including the new display technology and the internals. We are now hearing that Apple's OLED iPad Pro models are on track to launch next year.

Apple's OLED iPad Pro launch is on track for 2024 with an M3 chip and potentially some design tweaks

Apple iPad Pro models have featured more or less the same design for years and the company could finally see fit to offer a refresh next year. We have previously covered that Apple's forthcoming iPad Pro will feature a slightly bigger display. The company will launch two models of the iPad Pro with an 11.1-inch and a 13-inch display. Currently, the iPad Pro models are available in 11-inch and 12.9-inch display sizes but only the bigger variant features a mini-LED display. However, both iPad Pro models launching next year will house an OLED panel.

The mini-LED iPad Pro model is Apple's most advanced display technology on the iPad yet with higher brightness levels and improved color accuracy. The display technology is pretty similar to the ProDisplay XDR but the latter offers further enhancements associated with its sheer size. However, Apple's move to switch to the OLED display technology with the launch of the iPad Pro next year will offer various benefits (via The Elec).

The OLED displays are known to be power efficient and features enhanced color accuracy with deeper blacks. On the iPad, the OLED panel could do wonders as most users use it for media consumption and content creation. Furthermore, with the low power-hungry nature of the display, the iPad Pro could offer enhanced battery life which is always a plus. Furthermore, the OLED iPad Pro launching next year could house an M3 chip based on TSMC's 3nm process. The chip will deliver improved performance and better efficiency compared to the M2 chip.

Apple is also working on its custom microLED displays for future products. We have recently reported that the first product to house the microLED display will be the Apple Watch Ultra in 2026 instead of 2025. The company would expand the display technology to additional products like the iPhone, iPad, and MacBook later on. If the news has any heft to it, we presume that the company will use the OLED panels until microLED displays are ready for the iPad.
