ChatGPT has become all the rage in the modern day and age, with almost everyone using the service in some form or another. Sure, AI has a lot of capabilities and valuable features as well, but I never really thought to myself that there should be an app that would let me use the service on my smartwatch. Well, if you ever wished for that, it is finally happening because ChatGPT is finally available on Wear OS as an app you can try for free.
You can now use ChatGPT on your Wear OS smartwatch but you probably shouldn't
The app is simply named WearGPT and is available on Wear OS 3 and Wear OS 2 smartwatches--it goes to show how the developer wanted to make sure that a wide range of users is capable of using the app. All you have to do to use ChatGPT on your watch is download the app, set it up, and get started.
If you are confused about why you would need ChatGPT on your wrist, the developer claims it's great for those who want "hands-free communications." However, if you have ever used the service, you would know that a conversation with it can get long really fast, and constantly looking at your smartwatch for a reply does not seem intuitive to me. Sure, it might be suitable for party tricks,but other than that, having the functionality on a smartwatch is not really intuitive. Contrary? Perhaps.
Thankfully, the all the functionality of ChatGPT is retained here, which means that WearGPT comes with support for voice input, it can also read out the responses. Users will be able go with a prompt or just ask a question. You can even make some changes to the app itself, but at the end of the day, the purpose seems lost, especially on a smartwatch.
This is not even the first time we are seeing an AI-powered app on a smartwatch. Petey app was recently announced for Apple Watch Series 4 and newer models, but that one is going to cost you $4.99 to get started. Compared to that, WearGPT is absolutely free. We just have to wait and see how many people are interested in this app.
