— Kurt John, former chief cybersecurity officer for Siemens USA, joined Expedia as global chief security officer. John will be responsible for IT security, physical security and privacy.
John spent nearly six years at Siemens. He also serves on the advisory board at cloud security startup ObserveID and on the innovation advisory committee at George Mason University. He is also a non-resident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council.
John will be based in Fairfax Station, Va., where he is on the board of directors of the Virginia chamber of commerce.
— Longtime Microsoft engineer Jeffrey Snover is leaving the tech giant. Snover is currently CTO for modern workplace transformation and is a technical fellow. He joined Microsoft in 1999. “It is time for me to try something new,” said Snover in a LinkedIn post.
— Paul Moore will join Zymeworks as chief scientific officer. He moves from antibody therapeutics company MacroGenics, where he was vice president for cell biology and immunology. Moore also was previously director of cell biology at Celera.
Earlier this year, Zymeworks announced it was laying off 25% of its workforce and shaking up leadership roles as it focuses on driving its lead antibody-based drug candidate through a late-stage clinical trial for cancer. The company is also testing another candidate in early trials and “streamlined” its R&D strategy. Zymeworks is also fending off a takeover attempt.

- The Seattle Seahawks reportedly hired two new analytics gurus — Becca Erenbaum from the New York Knicks and Peter Engler from the Charlotte Thunder.
- Attorney Michael O’Shaughnessy joined psychedelics startup CaaMTech as director of intellectual property. CaaMTech develops creates and patents different psychedelic compounds and formulations. The company has more than 200 pending patent applications and issued patents.
