Tech Moves: Twitch names CTO; Highspot adds board member; Apptio promotes sales leader

— Amazon-owned live streaming platform Twitch named Christine Weber as its new CTO.

Weber was most recently chief information officer and interim chief technology officer at communications company Liberty Latin America. She was previously an engineering executive at Sling TV and EchoStar Corporation.

In April, the latest State of the Stream report found that Twitch viewership was up 105% from last year. Amazon acquired San Francisco-based Twitch in 2014 for $970 million in cash.

— Former Informatica President Tracey Newell joined the board of sales enablement startup Highspot. She previously was a global sales executive at Proofpoint, Polycom and Cisco.

Newell currently serves on the board of Sailpoint and Sumo Logic. She is also an advisor for Blackrock’s Long Term Private Capital strategy.

Highspot raised a $200 million Series E round in February at a $2.3 billion valuation. The Seattle startup’s software aims to help make salespeople more efficient.

— E-commerce startup Fabric announced Tyler Nemiro as vice president of sales. The Bellevue, Wash.-based company completed a $43 million Series A funding round in February.

Based in Las Vegas, Nemiro was most recently director of enterprise sales in North America for Shopify Plus. He previously worked in sales at Adobe Commerce, formerly known as Magneto.

— Cloud-based IT management company Apptio promoted Toyan Espeut to chief customer officer.

Espeut joined Apptio in 2013 and was most recently EVP of global account management. She was previously a sales director at Accenture.

Bellevue, Wash.-based Apptio went private via a private equity deal in 2019 and announced the company’s fourth acquisition earlier this year.

— Sqoop founder Bill Hankes joined Forbes as chief communications officer. He was previously the director of PR for Microsoft’s Bing and a VP of corporate communications at RealNetworks.

“Forbes represents the marriage of two personal passions, journalism and entrepreneurship,” said Hankes.

Hankes will be responsible for Forbes’ global corporate communications strategy and will report to CEO Mike Federle.
