Sumo Logic to acquire Portland open source cloud monitoring startup Sensu

Cloud management and monitoring company Sumo Logic announced that it plans to acquire Sensu, a Portland, Ore. startup that offers open source monitoring tools.

Originally an open source software project known as Heavy Water, Sensu had raised $12.5 million to date from Foundry Group, Battery Ventures, Matt Shobe, and Dharmesh Thakker, according to PitchBook.

Sensu CEO Caleb Hailey and co-founder Sean Porter originally came up with the idea for Sensu while working on an internal project to replace an aging Nagios installation for cloud information archiving company Sonian.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Redwood City, Calif.-based Sumo Logic went public last year. Its full year fiscal 2021 revenue was up 31% to $202.6 million.
