The Indian Air Force (IAF) has released the Agniveervayu Open Recruitment Rally notification for candidates from the North Eastern States and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands to join as Agniveervayu (Other Than Science Subjects) under Intake 01/2027. Note: The rally commences from 6:00 AM onwards, and only candidates reporting up to 10:00 AM (cut-off time) on their scheduled reporting date will be permitted entry. Candidates must plan for contingencies such as delayed trains, buses, or flights.

Eligibility Criteria for IAF Agniveervayu Recruitment 2026

  • Date of Birth: Candidates born between 1st January 2005 and 1st July 2009 (both dates inclusive) are eligible. The upper age limit as on the date of enrolment should not exceed 22 years.
  • Marital Status: Only unmarried male and female candidates are eligible. Agniveervayu must remain unmarried during the four-year engagement period; getting married during this period will lead to dismissal from service. Female candidates must also undertake not to become pregnant during the engagement period, failing which they will be liable for dismissal and debarred from selection into the Regular Cadre.

Educational Qualification (Other Than Science Subjects)

Candidates must have passed one of the following:

  • Intermediate/10+2/equivalent examination in any stream/subject from a Central/State/UT recognised Education Board, with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English; OR
  • A two-year Vocational Course from a recognised Education Board, with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English (in the Vocational Course, or in Intermediate/Matriculation if English is not a subject in the Vocational Course); OR
  • A three-year Diploma Course in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Automobile/Computer Science/Instrumentation Technology/Information Technology) from a recognised Polytechnic institute, with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English (in the Diploma Course, or in Intermediate/Matriculation if English is not a subject in the Diploma Course).

Note: The exact aggregate percentage before decimal, as recorded in the marksheet (or as calculated per the concerned Board/Institute’s rules), alone will be considered; for example, 49.99% will be treated as 49%, not rounded to 50%.

Domicile Requirement for IAF Agniveervayu Rally

Candidates must satisfy one of the following conditions to appear at either rally venue:

  • Permanent Domicile: Permanent domicile of the states/UT mentioned above, evidenced by a Domicile Certificate issued by a Gazetted Officer of the Revenue Department or other authorised official, with the candidate’s and parent’s name matching the matriculation certificate.
  • COAFP-I: Children of serving Air Force personnel (Officers/Airmen/NCs(E) and Unit Cadre Civilians paid from Defence Estimates) whose parent is presently serving in an Air Force Unit or organisation located in the covered districts, irrespective of their own domicile status.
  • COAFP-II: Children of Air Force personnel (Officers/Airmen/NCs(E) and Unit Cadre Civilians) whose parent is retired/discharged/deceased, and who reside in the covered states/UT, with proof of minimum one year’s stay along with relevant service documents.

Documents Required for IAF Agniveervayu Rally

Candidates must carry the following to the rally venue:

  • Writing material: HB pencil, eraser, sharpener, glue stick, stapler, and black & blue ball-point pens
  • Ten un-attested recent passport-size colour photographs (taken holding a black slate with name and date written in white chalk)
  • Original/DigiLocker-verified printout and four self-attested photocopies of the matriculation passing certificate
  • Original/DigiLocker-verified printout and four self-attested photocopies of 10+2/Intermediate/Diploma/Vocational course certificate and marksheet
  • Original and four self-attested photocopies of the Domicile Certificate, or the applicable COAFP/Air Force Civilian Employee certificate along with service documents
  • NOC in original, for candidates presently serving in any government organisation
  • Discharge Certificate, for candidates discharged from the Indian Army/Navy/other government organisation
  • Photographs of body tattoos, if applicable, as per prescribed specifications
  • NCC ‘A’, ‘B’, or ‘C’ Certificate, if applicable
  • A duly filled and signed Consent Form for the Physical Fitness Test and Medical Tests (parent/guardian signature required for candidates below 18 years)

Selection Procedure for IAF Agniveervayu Recruitment 2026

Verification of Eligibility: Original/DigiLocker-verified educational certificates and other applicable documents are scrutinised at the venue prior to the Physical Fitness Test to ascertain prima-facie eligibility.

Physical Fitness Test (PFT):

  • PFT-I: 1.6 km run — within 7 minutes for male candidates, within 8 minutes for female candidates.
  • PFT-II (after 10 minutes’ recuperation): For male candidates — 10 push-ups (1 minute), 10 sit-ups (1 minute), 20 squats (1 minute), with rest intervals between exercises. For female candidates — 10 sit-ups (1 minute 30 seconds), 15 squats (1 minute).

Written Test: Conducted the same day for candidates who qualify the PFT. Duration 45 minutes, bilingual (English & Hindi) except the English paper, comprising English (20 questions, as per 10+2 CBSE syllabus) and Reasoning & General Awareness/RAGA (30 questions). Candidates must qualify each paper separately. Marking: +1 for each correct answer, 0 for unattempted questions, and -0.25 for each wrong answer or multiple-option response.

Adaptability Test-I: An objective-type written test to assess suitability for employment in the Indian Air Force.

Adaptability Test-II: Conducted on the same or a subsequent day to assess adaptability to the Air Force environment and military way of life.

Medical Examination: Conducted in September at designated Medical Boarding Centres — Jorhat (11 ASC) for the Nagaland rally, and Sri Vijaya Puram (8 ASC) for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands rally — covering baseline blood, urine, biochemistry, chest X-ray, ECG, and (for female candidates) ultrasonography investigations, among others.

    Candidates declared medically unfit may apply for an Appeal Medical Board (AMB) by depositing ₹40/- through e-MRO/MRO, within three working days of the medical examination.

    Pay, Allowances and Benefits for Agniveervayu

    Agniveervayu enrolled under this scheme will be paid a monthly package as follows, with 70% paid in hand and 30% contributed to the Agniveer Corpus Fund (matched equally by the Government):

    On exit after four years, Agniveervayu will receive a one-time ‘Seva Nidhi’ package of approximately ₹10.04 lakh (excluding interest). Additional benefits include Risk and Hardship Allowance, Dress and Travel Allowance, ration, clothing, accommodation, Leave Travel Concession, 30 days of annual leave, sick leave as per medical advice, and non-contributory life insurance cover of ₹48 lakh during the engagement period. Agniveervayu will not be entitled to gratuity, pension, or Ex-Servicemen (ESM) status after discharge.
