CSIR UGC NET June 2026 – Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification
- General / EWS candidates must have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in a Master’s degree or equivalent from a recognised university.
- OBC-NCL / SC / ST / PwD / PwBD / Third Gender candidates must have secured at least 50% marks in their Master’s degree.
- Candidates appearing in their final year of Master’s or those whose results are awaited may also apply provisionally.
- Candidates with a four-year / 8-semester Bachelor’s degree (with a minimum of 75% marks, or 70% for reserved categories) are eligible for JRF and Ph.D. admission but not for appointment as Assistant Professor.
- Ph.D. holders whose Master’s level exam was completed by 19 September 1991 are eligible for a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks.
Age Limit
- JRF: Maximum age of 30 years as on 1 July 2026. Age relaxation of up to 5 years is available for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD/PwBD, Third Gender, women applicants, and candidates with research experience or ex-servicemen.

JRF Stipend Details
Candidates who qualify as JRF are entitled to the following stipend:
- JRF (first two years): ₹37,000 per month + ₹20,000 annual contingency grant.
