The IDBI Bank exam is conducted by IDBI Bank Ltd. to recruit Junior Assistant Managers (JAM) for its branches across India. After applying, it’s important for candidates to understand the IDBI JAM 2026 selection process, which involves multiple key stages to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of each candidate.

The selection process includes an Online Test (OT), followed by a Personal Interview (PI) and mandatory Document Verification (DV). Every year, thousands of aspirants compete in this exam to secure a prestigious job in the banking sector. Check the article below for a stage-wise breakdown of the IDBI JAM Selection Process.

IDBI JAM Selection Process 2026

Once candidates understand the IDBI JAM Selection Process, they can plan their preparation effectively. The selection process consists of the following stages:

  • Online Test (OT)
  • Personal Interview (PI)
  • Document Verification (DV) & Pre-Recruitment Medical Test (PRMT)

IDBI JAM Selection Process: Online Test (OT)

The first and most crucial stage in the selection process is the Online Test. This is a computer-based test designed to assess a candidate’s aptitude and knowledge across four key areas. The test totals 200 questions to be answered in 120 minutes, with sectional timings.

Candidates must qualify for the OT by securing the minimum cut-off marks, both sectionally and in aggregate, as decided by the bank. The scores from the OT carry significant weight in the final merit list.

IDBI JAM Selection Process: Personal Interview (PI)

The second stage is the Personal Interview. Candidates who are shortlisted based on their performance in the Online Test are called for the PI. The interview is conducted to assess a candidate’s personality, communication skills, and suitability for a career in banking. Candidates have the option to answer interview questions in either Hindi or English. The Personal Interview is worth 100 marks, and candidates need to score a minimum of 50% (45% for reserved categories) to qualify.

IDBI Bank JAM Selection Process: Document Verification & Medical Test

The Junior Assistant Manager final stage involves Document Verification and a Pre-Recruitment Medical Test.

  • Document Verification: Candidates who are shortlisted after the PI must produce all required original documents for verification. This includes proof of age, educational qualifications, category certificate (if applicable), and other testimonials. Failure to produce valid documents will lead to the cancellation of candidature.
  • Medical Test: Candidates are also required to pass a medical fitness test as per the bank’s standards to ensure they are fit for the role.

Final Merit List

The final selection is based on a combined score from the Online Test and the Personal Interview. The formula used is:

Final Score = (3/4 of OT Score) + (1/4 of PI Score)

A final merit list is prepared based on these scores, and candidates are offered appointments subject to medical fitness and document verification.

IDBI Junior Assistant Manager Exam Pattern 2026

The IDBI JAM exam pattern for the Online Test consists of four sections, all of which are objective-type with multiple-choice questions. The test assesses candidates’ speed, accuracy, and problem-solving skills. A key feature is the sectional timing, meaning candidates must manage their time within each section.
