There are some interviews that feel more like a reflection of life than just a conversation, one such was with actor Satish Shah’s deeply shared personal thought – “I’m in no hurry to die.” Looking back today, his words hold a different meaning especially after his passing on October 25, 2025 at the age of 74 due to kidney failure.
Satish Shah’s past conversation with CNN-News18, he revealed that he had taken a break from acting to “rejuvenate” himself. “I’ve stopped performing in public now, in movies and otherwise. I’ve taken a sabbatical and it’s been rather long,” he said. “It’s in my nature that I only do things I enjoy. I stopped enjoying for a while, so I thought I’d take a break and start all over again. I’m in no hurry to die.”
Known for making people laugh effortlessly, legendary Satish Shah was a name that brought smiles across generations whether as the witty Indravadan Sarabhai from Sarabhai vs Sarabhai or his memorable roles in Main Hoon Na, Bhootnath, Om Shanti Om and Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro.
Satish Shah’s promise to “start all over again” may have remained incomplete but his laughter and warmth will forever echo in every home that once tuned in to Sarabhai vs Sarabhai.
