On September 19, 2025, the nation woke up to the heartbreaking news of cultural icon Zubeen Garg’s death. The Assamese singer who is best known for his sensational Bollywood song Ya Ali, died at the age of 52 after a scuba diving accident in Singapore. Now, in the latest Zubeen’s video from the final moments is going viral on social media. In the clip shared by India Today NE, he is seen adjusting a life jacket and jumping into the sea to enjoy a swim, unaware that it would be his last dive.
Amid this tragic event caused yesterday now Zubeen Garg’s event manager has released the first official statement. As per the reports in Times Of India, the statement read, “He was scheduled to be with us at the festival tomorrow, meeting and interacting with people. Earlier today, our entire team was engaged in a business meeting with senior Singaporean industrialists and policymakers at the Shangri-La Hotel to facilitate investments in Northeast India.”
And further explained how did the accident occurred, “During the meeting, we received a call from Zubeen’s manager informing us that he had met with an accident and had been rushed to Singapore General Hospital. We later learned that a few members of the local Assamese community had taken him on a yacht visit, of which we had no prior knowledge.”
Talking about Zubeen Garg’s postmortem details and talked about the return of his mortal remains to India, the Assam’s Chief Minister Biswa Sarma shared an update on social media. His post read, “The post-mortem of our beloved Zubeen Garg has been completed in Singapore. His mortal remains are now being handed over to the accompanying team — Shri Shekar Jothi Goswami, Shri Sandeepan Garg, and Shri Siddharth Sharma (Manager) — in the presence of officers from the Indian Embassy.”
