Anita Ayoob, also known as Anita Ayub or Aneeta Ayoob entered Bollywood in the early ’90s with none other than legendary actor-filmmaker Dev Anand. She made her debut in Pyar Ka Tarana (1993), directed by Dev Anand himself. While her initial days in Bollywood faced few ups and downs with films alongside Salman Khan leaving the film and with Deepak Tijori the movie got shelved, she then later appeared in another Dev Anand movie Gangster (1995). Due to their frequent collaborations, people began associating Anita Ayoob as Dev Anand’s and that’s where things started getting interesting.
“He Was Like Everything To Me…”
In a controversial throwback interview with Lehren, during the promotions of Pyar Ka Tarana, Anita made some eyebrow-raising revelations. She spoke openly about her experience working with Dev Anand and spending two to three months in Denmark while shooting. When asked about the nature of their relationship during that time, Anita candidly replied, “Unse relationship toh har kisam ka ho gaya tha – ek bade bhai, ek father, ek boyfriend, ek mother. Relation har kisam ka tha.”
She further added, “I didn’t mind choosing him as a boyfriend, as a mother, as a father, as a brother – as everything!” The duo reportedly stayed in the same building during the shoot which according to Anita Ayoob helped her see the real nature of Dev Anand saab.
On Compromise & Bold Choices
The actress also spoke about her early struggles and compromises while stepping into the film industry. She admitted to doing bold and sizzling photoshoots, calling herself the only Pakistani actress at the time to have taken such steps. Anita was unapologetic about her choices, claiming she was always clear about what she wanted.
