Hulk Hogan, one of wrestling’s biggest stars has died at the age of 71 after suffering from a cardiac arrest at his Florida home. Emergency responders arrived Thursday morning after a 911 call but despite the efforts Hulk Hogan whose real name was Terry Bollea was pronounced dead at the scene. Known for bringing professional wrestling into the mainstream during the ’80s and ’90s, Hogan leaves behind a legacy filled with triumphs, controversy and emotional moments.
As tributes poured in from his fans, fellow wrestlers and even political figures, a personal detail has surfaced about Hulk’s final conversation with his estranged daughter Brooke. The two had reportedly been distant since 2023, when Brooke chose not to attend his wedding to Sky Daily. However, two weeks before that wedding, Brooke and Hogan spoke for what would become the last time.
In that emotional phone call, Brooke told her father she loved him. According to TMZ, she’s now saying she’s grateful she had that moment. Her husband Steven Oleksy had also tried to help mend their relationship over the years but the reconciliation never fully happened. Hogan reportedly apologized during the call, though it’s unclear what exactly he was apologizing for. Brooke also asked him to slow down for his health, urging him to enjoy life instead of pushing his limits.
Hogan’s impact on wrestling can’t be overstated. He headlined the first WrestleMania in 1985 soon he became a pop culture icon and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005. Though his final years were marred by health struggles and public controversies including past racist remarks and legal battles, Hogan remained a towering figure in wrestling history.
He is survived by his wife Sky Daily, ex-wife Linda Hogan and their children Brooke and Nick. Despite years of ups and downs, Brooke says she is at peace knowing she told her father “I love you” one last time.
