Family legacies have always played a huge role in Bollywood from the Kapoors, Khans to the Bachchans they are already considered as the biggest Bollywood lineages. Now in latest, with the rise of Ahaan Panday and his grand debut, we wonder if the Pandays are the next big superstar family in the industry.
Ahaan Panday’s Debut Brings the Spotlight on the Pandays
The 27-year-old Ahaan Panday made his acting debut with Saiyaara which recently hit theatres on July 18, 2025 and in no-time it became a smashing hit with both at box office and also their hard-hitting performances earning praise. The film directed by Mohit Suri, also starred another newcomer Aneet Padda, in the leading lady role. While both actors received applauds, it was Ahaan who stood out with a powerful performance and a strong emotional arc of his character that left many viewers in tears.

Saiyaara Breaks Box Office Records
What’s surprising is that unlike any other launching film Saiyaara didn’t follow the usual heavy promotional route, with only director being the face of promotional activities. Yet, the film went on to cross ₹80 crore at the box office, as per the reports in Koimoi. It opened with ₹22 crore on its first weekend, becoming Mohit Suri’s highest opener till date – beating even the popular Aashiqui 2. Adding on, on day one Saiyaara also managed to outperform the lifetime collection of Ranbir Kapoor’s debut Saawariya.
Even more impressively, the film broke three major records. It beat Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’s opening day record of ₹19.45 crore to become the highest Day 1 earner for a Bollywood romantic film. Ahaan also surpassed Kapil Sharma’s debut record (Kis Kis Ko Pyaar Karoon opened at ₹10.15 crore) and scored the second-highest ticket sales of 2025 on BookMyShow with 4.19 lakh tickets sold on day one, being only behind Chhaava’s 6.69 lakh.

From her confident screen presence to her natural off-screen charm, she’s managed to stay in the limelight for all the right reasons.

Chunky Panday & Bhavana Panday
The family legacy goes back to the 90s with Chunky Panday. Known for blockbuster films like Tezaab, Aankhen, Vishwatma,Zakhm and many more.. he has been one of the top actors of his time, loved for both intense roles and for his epic comedy timing. Even today he continues to appear in some of the major films in Bollywood to also starring in Tamil and Telugu films.

She became even more well-known after her appearance in Netflix’s reality show Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives. And also marked her presence on Koffee With Karan which added to her fame, and continues to remain a style icon and known personality in Bollywood circles.

Comparison to other Big Families of Bollywood
The Kapoors are widely regarded as the first family of not just Bollywood but of Indian cinema as a whole, running solid for four generations. Starting from Prithviraj Kapoor to Raj Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, and now Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, their contribution spans generations.
Similarly the Khans, from Salim Khan and his sons Salman, Arbaaz and Sohail, to other legendary Khans like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan have shaped Hindi cinema in remarkable ways. also the fiery Bachchans – Amitabh, Jaya, Abhishek and Aishwarya remain one of the most respected families in the industry with their legacy continuing through Agastya Nanda’s recent debut film ‘The Archies’.
Now, the Pandays seem to be rising steadily and Saiyaara seems to be the turning point for this legacy.
What Lies Ahead for Pandays?
The future now depends on Ahaan’s next few choices but the Pandays’ family rise looks promising. With Ahaan making a powerful debut to Ananya already proving her mark by seamlessly balancing the commercial success and critical acclaims. With Chunky still active in films and Bhavana always making headlines – the family might just be walking toward building a solid Bollywood legacy and only time will tell if they reach the heights of other big Bollywood families.
