In an exclusively interaction with Lehren Retro, Priyanka Chopra’s mom Madhu Chopra opened up on her daughter’s good-old days and how she never entertained ‘failure’ as an option. But moved forward to work ahead with more vengeance. Priyanka’s mother Madhu Chopra revealed how upsettingf it was for her to not receive the right support from Bareilly, which was her native town. Madhu recalled returning to Bareilly after Priyanka’s Miss World win, only to receive a bitter welcome instead of praises and recognition to fame. As Madhu Chopra quoted to Lehren’s seniormost journalist Bharathi S Pradhan, “Jo Bareilly mein humara reception hua that was not kind at all. The state machinery said ye naari shoshan hain, hum log isko nahi accept karenge. Unka funda hai ki jis seher se aayi hain usi seher pe uska welcome hoga..”
Even The CM’s Invitation Couldn’t Help
People in Bareilly did not want to have an extra vagant celebration for Priyanka’s homecoming after witnessing a major victory. Even though the Chopra family received an invitiation from the Chief Minister of Bareilly back then to come and celebrate the victory of the city’s girl, but the people of the state showed no mercy or consideration to the same. Later, as she said, that a modest gathering was planned in the army zone, where her father was stationed at the time. However, she received a heartfelt reaction from the entertainment industry in Mumbai. Filmmakers and producers saw her potential and gave her a chance in Bollywood.
