The renowned filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan has fallen into a legal trouble after her random comment made on the television show ‘Celebrity MasterChef 2025’. A police complaint has been filed against Farah Khan for remarks about the Hindu festival of Holi. The complaint was lodged by Vikash Fhatak also known as Hindustani Bhau, through his lawyer Advocate Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh at Khar Police Station. According to the complaint, Farah made a statement on the television show that Celebrity MasterChef 2025 that allegedly hurt religious sentiments.
What Did Farah Khan say that Led to a Police Complaint?
During an episode of Celebrity MasterChef 2025, Farah Khan referred to Holi as “a festival for the chhapri people” The term “chhapri” is widely considered derogatory and many took offense at its use in this context. The remark quickly gained attention on social media, leading to backlash from several users who criticized the statement as disrespectful. Many demanded an apology from the filmmaker.
In his complaint, Hindustani Bhau claimed that Farah Khan’s remark was not just offensive to him personally but also hurt the religious sentiments of the larger Hindu community. His lawyer Advocate Deshmukh stated, “My client believes that referring to Holi in such a way is inappropriate and has the potential to create unnecessary conflict.” The complaint further emphasized that the statement could lead to communal disharmony.

The FIR against Farah Khan has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The complaint demands legal action for what is seen as an irresponsible remark on a public platform. As of now, Farah Khan has not publicly responded to the complaint.
