Upasana Singh is a notablly known actress in the Indian television industry, and was starred in may popular Hindi films in the early years. However, what gained her a lot of fame was her role as Bua ji in the 2013 comedy entertainer show – Comedy Niights with Kapil Sharma. Though the show is still on with certain variations, audience still misses the presence of Bua ji in the show. The character was played by Upasana Singh and Ali Asgar respectively. She won hearts with her comedic talent when she portrayed Kapil Sharma’s ‘bua’ on the Colors TV show. Unfortunately when Kapil moved to Sony, Upasana couldn’t accompany him and left the show abruptly permanently. After so many years, actress Upasana Singh has broken her silence on why she quit the show and never returned back.
Upasana Singh On Why She Quit Kapil Sharma’s Comedy Show
Upasana Singh revealed that after a point of time, she started feeling that she was losing out on the satisfaction to work in the show. In an interaction with Siddharth Kannan, Upasana mentioned, “After a certain point, there was nothing left for me to do. I told Kapil also. We still have a great relationship. It’s not like we had a fight or anything. I told Kapil that it’s not the same anymore, it’s not as fun show.”
Further she also revealed that comedian Krushna Abhishek and Kapil Sharma had some internal tensions between them, and the former replaced Kapil’s show on Colors TV. Unwillingly, Upasana Singh had to join Krushna’s show because she was contractually signed with Colors to perform for a certain period. She did not have any contract with Kapil’s team internally which is why she could not move to Sony Tv leaving her Colors channel’s contract behind.
In the conversation, the actress told how her punchlines were removed from the show, how she was not a part of the team’s conversations. “Mai enter karu toh wo bolna band karde, mera punchline ho to wo kaat de..” She denied taking names of the people but claimed that she felt like a torture in the show after a point, which made her decide to leave the show. Upasana also indirectly made a comment that the air of ‘stardom’ had hit Kapil at a point, but he learnt his mistakes upon seeing the downfall and took charge of his faults.
