Rakul Preet Singh, a well-known actress in the Telugu film industry who has also worked in Tamil and Hindi films, recently addressed a controversy involving her name. Telangana Minister Konda Surekha made a shocking statement, dragging the actress name alongwith the matter of Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya’s false divorce remarks, claiming that BRS Party leader KTR was responsible and these comments created a stir in the Telugu film industry.
Both Samantha and Naga Chaitanya had initially spoken out against the false allegations, calling them a way to gain political attention. Now, Rakul Preet Singh reacts, sharing her thoughts on the situation through her Instagram and X accounts.
Rakul started by appreciating the Telugu film industry for its creativity and professionalism. She said, “The Telugu Film Industry is known worldwide for its creativity and professionalism. I’ve had a great journey in this beautiful industry and still feel very connected.”
However, she expressed her sadness about the baseless rumors being spread, especially when it involves women in the industry. She added, “It pains to hear such baseless and vicious rumors being spread about the women of this fraternity. What’s more disheartening is the fact that this is being done by another woman who’s supposedly in a very responsible position.”
Rakul further addressed the fact that her name was dragged into the issue for political reasons. Rakul Preet Singh reacts, clarifying that she has no political connections, stating, “I am absolutely apolitical and have nothing to do with any person/political party, whatsoever. I urge you to stop using my name in a malicious way to gain political mileage.” She also urged that creative personalities like her should be kept out of political battles, saying, “Artists and creative personalities should be kept out of political slugfests, and their names should not be used to grab headlines by linking them with fictitious stories.”
Many well-known figures in the Telugu film industry, like Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Jr. NTR, Prakash Raj and the latest star celebs to voice their concern are SS Rajamouli, and Prabhas. The hashtag “#FilmIndustryWillNotTolerate” started trending as these stars united against the misuse of personal lives for political purposes.
SS Rajamouli, the Oscar-winning director, said, “Respect boundaries, maintain dignity. Baseless allegations are intolerable, especially when made by public officials! #FilmIndustryWillNotTolerate.” Similarly, Prabhas expressed his frustration, saying, “Disrespecting personal lives for political gain is unacceptable. Dignity must remain above politics.! #FilmIndustryWillNotTolerate”.
In response to the defamatory remarks, Naga Chaitanya’s father, Nagarjuna Akkineni, filed a defamation case against Konda Surekha. Naga Chaitanya shared the news on his X account, confirming that the case was filed under section 356 of Bhartiya Nayay Sanhita in the Hyderabad district court.
