The controversy surrounding Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s divorce has taken a new turn. Recently, Telangana Congress leader Konda Surekha had made comments linking their separation to BRS party leader K.T. Rama Rao (KTR). Causing an uproar in the film industry and many stars came forward with the hashtag #FilmIndustryWillNotTolerate against her. Konda Surekha later apologized but she only mentioned Samantha in her apology, leaving out Naga Chaitanya and his family. This has upset the Akkineni family and now, Nagarjuna lashes out at the exclusion of his son and family from the apology.
Earlier, Nagarjuna expressed his anger on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “I strongly condemn the comments of the Honorable Minister Mrs. Konda Surekha. Don’t use the lives of movie stars who stay away from politics to criticize your opponents.” Although Konda Surekha withdrew her remarks and apologized to Samantha, she did not apologize to Nagarjuna or Naga Chaitanya.
According to the reports of Zoom, in a recent interview, Nagarjuna shared his disappointment, stating, “Her outrageous comments cannot be allowed to slide under the crack. She now says she is withdrawing her remarks. She has apparently apologized to Samantha. What about my family? Not a word of apology to me and to my family!”
Reportedly, Nagarjuna has taken further steps by revealing that he is filing a new Rs 100 crore defamation case against Konda Surekha. He made it clear that the issue has gone beyond personal matters and that the comments hurt his entire family. When asked if he would drop the case if she apologized to his family, Nagarjuna strongly said, “No, not at all”. As defamation cases often take time, shared that he is prepared for a long legal battle ahead.
Konda Surekha had also mentioned actress Rakul Preet Singh in her comments. Rakul responded by saying, “I am absolutely apolitical and have nothing to do with any person/political party, whatsoever. I urge you to stop using my name in a malicious way to gain political mileage.”
Nagarjuna’s family is not alone in this fight. Several big names from the Telugu film industry, such as Chiranjeevi, Jr. NTR, Prabhas, SS Rajamouli, Prakash Raj, and Nagarjuna’s wife Amala Akkineni, have expressed their support. They are united against using personal lives for political purposes, which has fueled the viral #FilmIndustryWillNotTolerate trend.
