Netizens Say ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ Filmmakers Wrongly Assumed A Naughty Title Would Attract Audience

The much-anticipated film ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ hit theatres on October 11, 2024, starring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri, two of the most talked-about actors in Bollywood today. Fans were excited to see this fresh pairing on screen, expecting a unique and fun ride. However, the film seems to have left many moviegoers disappointed, with audiences sharing their mixed reactions online.

Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, the film’s trailer initially gave viewers the impression of a lighthearted, humorous movie. But after watching the film, netizens took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their dissatisfaction, calling out the outdated plot and saying that even the talented Rajkummar Rao couldn’t save it.

One user on X pointed out the major issue with the movie’s screenplay, writing, “The main problem is with the screenplay. It feels like they thought of jokes first and then wrote the scenes around them. It falls flat! Set in 1997, but the humour is from the Stone Age. Even Rajkummar Rao couldn’t rescue this one. The only good part was Mallika Sherawat and Vijay Raaz’s song.”

Another user criticized the unnecessary subplots, saying, “A decent story turned into a mess due to too many unnecessary subplots. The jokes are outdated, and the writing feels lazy. Even Stree couldn’t save this bland disaster.”

Some viewers felt that the filmmakers were overconfident, thinking the bold title would be enough to draw people in. One user commented, “Looks like the makers thought the naughty title alone would pull in the audience. The movie’s outdated plot didn’t match up.”

A disappointed viewer also shared, “A decent story turned into a full blown disaster due to several unnecessary sub-plots. The screenplay is a mess of obsolete gags and jokes with lazy writing. Even स्त्री couldn’t save this bland khichdi.”

Another wrote, “Basic flaw in it’s screenplay, Pehle gags aur “comedy” sochi fir scene likha & they fall Flatter than the earth. 1997 me set hai lekin humour stone age ka even Rajkumar Rao couldn’t save this one. Malika & Vijay Raaz ka song aacha tha.

Not all reviews were negative. Some fans enjoyed the performances by Rajkummar Rao and Tripti Dimri, particularly in the first half of the movie. One netizen shared, “The first half was entertaining, with lots of laughs. @RajkummarRao, you always steal the show! Mallika Sherawat’s dance with Vijay Raaz was a nice surprise. Total Paisa Vasool for the first half.”

Another positive review praised Rajkummar’s comic timing and Tripti’s attempt at comedy. “Rajkummar Rao, fresh off Stree 2, is great with his one-liners. Tripti Dimri did some comedy too. The supporting cast did well, and some scenes were hilarious. But the weak story and messy climax let it down,” shared a viewer on X.

‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ tells the story of Vicky and Vidya, a newlywed couple in 1997 who decide to film their first night together as a memory for the future. But things quickly take a turn when the CD with their video gets stolen. The couple must scramble to retrieve it before the situation spirals out of control. While the plot sounds promising, many fans felt the film didn’t deliver the humour and excitement they were hoping for.

Despite having a strong cast and an interesting concept, ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ has left many netizens feeling disappointed. The outdated humour and inconsistent plot overshadowed the performances of the talented actors. However, some fans still found parts of the film enjoyable, particularly in the first half.
