Bollywood actress, Urmila Matondkar has reportedly filed for a “divorce” from her husband, Mohsin Akhtar after 8 years of their marriage. The reports about their imminent divorce surfaced on the internet yesterday. A source from the Mumbai court revealed to Hindustan Times that actress Urmila has already started the legal process to dissolve her marriage.
Reason Behind Urmila Matondkar’s Divorce From Mohsin Akhtar
While almost every report has confirmed their divorce, now some have even revealed the reason behind why the couple decided to part ways almost 8 years after their marriage. According to India Today Digital, Urmila Matondkar will soon be making her Bollywood comeback.
A source revealed to the portal that Urmila is aiming to divorce Mohsin in order to concentrate on her professional life. She is determined to make a return to the film world. It is also mentioned that the two have been living separately for some time now.
Urmila Matondkar-Mohsin Akhtar’s Marriage
Urmila and Mohsin, who married on February 4, 2016, in a low-key yet much-discussed ceremony, have been a couple of public interest due to their inter-faith relationship and 10-year age difference. Although their wedding was a private affair with limited guests, including designer Manish Malhotra, it made headlines. The couple, who met at Malhotra’s niece’s wedding in 2014, initially caught attention through public appearances and occasional social media posts.
However, their nearly ten-year-long marriage seems to be facing challenges. While Urmila has remained a prominent public figure, Mohsin, a businessman and model from Kashmir, has led a more private life. Following their wedding, they paid a visit to the Golden Temple in Amritsar before having a Nikah ceremony.
In 2019, Urmila made her entry into politics by joining the Indian National Congress, later shifting to the Shiv Sena in 2020. On the professional front, her most recent on-screen appearance was in the 2018 film Blackmail. Additionally, she took on the role of a judge for a children’s dance reality show that aired on television. The actress is expected to make her Bollywood comeback soon.
