Shah Rukh Khan can effortlessly play any character on screen. From a ruthless villain to a sweet lover to a superhero, SRK has time and again proved his versatility. What makes the superstar different from others is that he has always been open to experimentation and taking risks. At times, when leading stars just wanted to be the good guys on screen, Shah Rukh played the main villain in several movies.

One such movie in which Shah Rukh Khan impressed everyone with his villainous act is Baazigar. It was the first film in which the superstar played a villain and also stars Kajol and Shilpa Shetty. SRK’s character Ajay Sharma becomes an evil guy due to circumstances when his family is destroyed by Madan Chopra (Dalip Tahil). However, his actions make him as cruel as Chopra. Many people love SRK’s performance as both Ajay and Vicky. It is considered one of the best performances in his career. But what if we tell you that when the film was released in 1993, Khan was told his career was over?

Yes, you read it right. In 2013, in an interview with Forbes, Shah Rukh Khan got candid about business, work and how things can be sustainable in the long run. The Pathaan actor said, “In the long run, everything is sustainable. It’s a strange thing that I’m saying. But I don’t think short term. I have this belief. It could be because I’ve had repeated failures in the past. And then, I have taken high-end risks and succeeded in them. Like everyone told me, my career was over when Baazigar released. My best well-wishers told me my career is over; you can’t be a hero again after you’ve killed a woman. But it paid off. In the long run, everything is sustainable, if you stick to it.”

Shah Rukh Khan further stated that he has been running a VFX company for 12 years (in 2013), and he sees the numbers. The company started with three people, and at that time, they had 320 people working for him on different films. The Dunki actor added, “We don’t make great money on it. In fact, last year, we lost money on it. But the ideology is that in the long run, we are going to make the greatest VFX scenes ever made.”

All we can say is thank god SRK did Baazigar, Darr and even Anjaam. He’s terrific on screen as a villain. Hence, fans hope that the superstar will play characters like this again in the future.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan’s next films are YRF’s Pathaan 2 and Tiger V Pathaan as a part of their Spy Universe. SRK will have a face-off against Salman Khan in the latter film. The superstar will share screenspace with his daughter Suhana Khan in Sujoy Ghosh’s next.
