AMD RDNA 2 Powers Samsung's Xclipse GPU For Exynos Auto V920 Chip For Autonomous Vehicles 1

Samsung has officially unveiled the specs of its Exynos Auto V920 chip with Xclipse GPU which is powered by AMD's RDNA 2 architecture.

Replacing the Exynos Auto V9 chip, Samsung has announced its brand new Exynos Auto V920 which offers upgraded specifications including the brand new AMD RDNA 2 GPU architecture. While the announcement of the chip was made earlier this month, the company has shared its specifications which reveal what we are getting.

Starting with the details, the Samsung Exynos Auto V920 features a total of 10 Arm Cortex-A78AE cores which come in a two quad-core and a single dual-core cluster, offering a 70% boost in CPU performance alone and improved efficiency using the Samsung 5nm process node.

But the second major part of the chip itself is the GPU and which is made of the Xclipse design. The chip additionally features a dual-core NPU for AI capabilities, delivering up to 23.1 TOPS of performance which is 2.7x faster than its predecessor.

Smart driving starts from robust computing power. The Exynos Auto V920 is equipped with ten Arm Cortex-A78AE core CPU, which consists of two quad-core clusters and one dual-core cluster for maximized efficiency. The CPU’s performance has been improved by up to 1.7 times* for smoother and immersive infotainment experience in your next mobility vehicle.

Cars now offer all-round entertainment experience with rich graphical capabilities. Equipped with the Xclipse GPU built on AMD RDNA™ 2 architecture, the Exynos Auto V920 provides an immersive graphic experience on multiple, up to six, high-resolution displays. The Samsung Xclipse GPU is designed on AMD's RDNA 2 graphics architecture and provides the capability to run up to six high-resolution displays simultaneously in  3x 5K (8K*2K) or 3x DFHD (3840*1440) resolutions while offering a great experience for the infotainment system and the GUI scattered across the automobile. The Exynos Auto V920 comes packed with LPDDR5 memory with up to 102 GB/s of bandwidth, UFS 3.1 storage system, 2x USXGMII 10 Gbps Ethernet ports, a full-on 4K 240FPS video decoding, and 4K 120FPS video encode capabilities.

Samsung's Exynos V920 comes with the support of up to 12 cameras, supporting the new 144dB HDR with an on-die 4-exposure merger, the latest HiFi 5 cores for audio processing, and updated security systems to defend against attacks. Rounding up the features, we have
