How to Find Your Lost Android Phone with Ease

Losing your phone is never an easy thing to go through. It is not just the fact that you have spent a good chunk of money on a device, it is the fact that the device contains a lot of sensitive information, media, contacts, and more, and losing it is not something that you would want. Over the past couple of years, smartphone manufacturers have introduced ways that help you find your lost phone. Apple has its excellent Find My service that lets you find your devices with ease. Android also has a similar feature. However, not a lot of people know that it is, by default, not turned on. For some reason, the app for it is not even preinstalled. This means that if you lose your Android device, it is gone for good. But do you know you can find your lost Android phone with ease? Well, that is the purpose of this tutorial.

So, what do you have to do to find your lost Android phone? Well, for starters, you are going to need an app and set things up. You also have to make sure that your computer and your phone are both accessed by the same Gmail app. I still don't understand why the Find My Device app is not installed by default, as the idea of tracking your device has become such a quintessential thing.

Find Your Lost Android Phone by Using Find My Device

Now, I just enabled this feature today, and based on the information it is showing me, it does seem to work. However, I cannot guarantee just how accurate it is. Apple's Find My works even when your device is powered off, and such a feature currently does not exist on Android. It will be released in the future, however. Still, if you are looking to know how to find your Android phone by using Find My Device, keep on reading.

Step 1: On your Android phone, go to Google Play Store and download Find My Device app.

Step 2: Once the app is installed, launch it. It will ask you to select your Google account.

Step 3: Enter the password to your Google account, and you will be all set.

Step 4: On your computer, go to https://www.google.com/android/find/. You can even use another device as long as it has the app signed in with the same Google account on your Android device.

Step 5: Your device(s) should be listed there.

Step 6: From there, you can Play Sound, Secure Device, or Erase Device. However, the last two options might require signing into your device.
